Welcome to the 16U Champions Program

This is a club water polo exclusive, high-intensity training program. Program participants are expected to demonstrate their commitment, resilience, and striving for excellence.

About the Program

This program is not affiliated with the Coronado High School or ISF. It’s operated by Jesse Smith and a team of experienced coaches through Swerl Inc. and the Coronado Aquatics Club Non-Profit. Athletes in this invite-only program receive elite training, focusing on developing skills, mindset, and competitive edge.

Code of Conduct:

Welcome to Coronado Water Polo! We believe in excellence both in and out of the water and adhere to a Code of Conduct for all participants.

Expectations for All Participants:

  • Set a good example at all times.
  • Avoid inappropriate behavior, including theft, substance abuse, violent conduct, foul language, and negative discussions about others.
  • Follow the rules of the game.
  • Handle victory modestly and defeat graciously.
  • Treat everyone with dignity and respect.
  • Strive to win through skill, effort, teamwork, and fair play.
  • Keep the pool area clean.
  • Be a good teammate.
  • Attend practices and games on time and communicate conflicts with the coach.
  • Avoid inappropriate contact with others.

Expectations for Coaches:

  • Serve as role models, setting high standards for conduct and attendance.
  • Ensure player safety and fairness.
  • Help players reach their highest potential.
  • Encourage teamwork and mutual respect.
  • Communicate openly with parents.
  • Avoid inappropriate contact with players and parents.

Expectations for Parents:

  • Support your child's enjoyment of the game.
  • Encourage and support your child's responsibilities to the team.
  • Allow the coach to direct the play of the team.
  • Remember the long-term growth process of your child's water polo career.
  • Communicate openly with your child's coach.
  • Pay fees on time to sustain services.

Violations of the Code of Conduct:

  • Minor violations should be resolved within the team.
  • Serious or unresolved violations should be reported to the water polo Director or Safety Officer, with possible actions ranging from caution to expulsion.

Medical Authorization:

By purchasing below, I authorize any Coronado Aquatics Club coach or administrator, as well as any hospital, to consent to any necessary X-ray examination, anesthetic, medical or surgical diagnosis or treatment, and hospital care in my absence. This authorization is given under Section 25.8 of the Civil Code of California and will remain in effect until the end of the current school year unless revoked in writing.

Waivers and Refund Policy:

  • Refunds: Fees are fully refundable as credit before the first day of practice minus a 4% admin fee. All refunds will be issued as credit for future programs, registrations, and/or services.
  • Program Satisfaction: If you are unhappy with the program during the first week, communicate with your coach, and a refund may be granted at the coach's discretion minus a 4% admin fee.
  • No Refunds After First Week: No refunds will be issued after the first week of the season. All refunds will be issued as credit for future activities.
  • Missed Practices or Games: Refunds will not be given for missed practices or games.
  • Tournament Fees: Tournament payments will be fully refunded as credit if the club does not enter the tournament.
  • Practice Schedule: The practice schedule may change or practices may be canceled. There will be no guaranteed makeup days. Registration fees cover water polo participation but do not guarantee a certain number of pool hours.
  • Coaching Assignments: There is no guaranteed designated coach for your athlete as coaches work with various groups.
  • Sport Demands: Water polo is physically and mentally demanding.
  • Schedule Changes: Schedules may change. Let's make it awesome!
  • Director's Discretion: All refunds are solely at the director's discretion and will be issued as credit for future activities.

Important Notes:

  • All players must have an active USA Water Polo membership (visit USA Water Polo to join). A BRONZE level is recommended, but GOLD is required for tournaments.
  • Age is determined by Aug 1, 2025 for the 2024, 2025 season.

Additional Waivers for Water Polo:

  • Service may be refused to anyone.
  • Practice times are subject to change, and a certain number of practices are not guaranteed.
  • Payments and registrations will be made to Swerl Inc., a water polo service provider owned by Jesse Smith.
  • USA Water Polo membership at GOLD level is required for most activities.
  • Athletes must submit birthdate verifications and upload a photo to USAWP's Sport80 system. This is done by creating a USA Water Polo membership at usawp.sport80.com and associating it with Coronado Aquatics Club 86.

Assumption of Risk and Waiver of Liability:

Water polo is a physical sport. Harm, injury, and death can occur. By purchasing any services from Swerl Inc., Coronado Aquatics Club, Jesse Smith, or any coach, or from USA Water Polo, you agree that you understand the physical nature and risk of this activity and agree to hold harmless any of the above entities from any harm, even if any party is found negligent or mistakes were made by any party. You agree to hold the above parties not liable. Any disagreements will be settled with the Director via written certified letter to Jesse Smith. You also agree to use an independent mediator and third-party arbitrator to settle all civil disagreements and to accept their judgment. You agree to waive all other rights. By clicking "buy" or by purchasing, you agree to these and all terms. If any one point is found illegal, the rest of the agreement remains binding.
